News: Nexus seeks to optimise inventory with Barloworld Supply Chain Software
Nexus Industries, the designer and manufacturer of electrical
goods, has chosen Barloworld Supply Chain Software for inventory
optimisation as part of a global drive to excel in customer
service.
After a thorough procurement process, Nexus selected 'Optimiza'
from Barloworld Supply Chain Software to streamline processes
surrounding the distribution of goods in the UK. The inventory
optimisation application will enable Nexus to simplify the
procurement process, improve stock turn, and proactively prevent
excess stock in the supply chain.
Geoff Flegg, head of supply chain at Nexus Industries, explains,
"By changing the way we approach the management of inventory, we
are committed to maximising customer availability levels. Optimiza
will help us determine what inventory is needed to achieve those
service levels, while taking into account our specific business
needs."
"In the meantime, it offers the tools to calculate and maintain
the optimal safety stock and replenishment orders and project
future investment and warehousing requirements for our
business."
The contract between Nexus Industries and Barloworld Supply
Chain Software was signed in July 2010 with work beginning
immediately. The application is anticipated to go live in autumn
2010.
Colin Ward, managing consultant at Barloworld Supply Chain
Software adds, "Our experience working with businesses in the
electrical goods and hardware industries, offers us an insight into
the challenges they face. We can apply our tools, processes, people
and experience in inventory optimisation, along with this knowledge
to support Nexus to better exploit the value of inventory and
improve customer service."
