News: CAST User of the Year 2010
Submissions for this hotly contested award were high, with user
applications required to demonstrate broad deployment of CAST
functionality in order to identify significant supply chain savings
and service improvement benefits to the businesses being
modelled.
The CAST team at Barloworld finally shortlisted the entries down
to four companies of which Fraser Ironside, Head of Strategic
Modelling presented the winning trophy to Agility Chemicals. Joint
runner up awards were presented to Belron®, CEVA and Damco.
David Snow, Supply Chain Solutions Manager, accepted the winners
award on behalf of Agility Chemicals and the project team.

Winner: Agility Chemicals
The Chemical arm of Agility was
selected for its strategic use of CAST software from Barloworld
Supply Chain Software. The Agility Chemicals team use the
sophisticated software to build mathematical supply chain models to
optimise everything from manufacturing footprint, warehouse number
and location to transport and inventory deployment strategies.
Joint Runner Up: Belron®

The Belron® Supply Chain Development team was selected for
creating a holistic and robust strategy and vision for the future
multi-country supply chain network, involving cross functional
internal stakeholders.
Joint Runner Up: CEVA Logistics

CEVA Logistics South Pacific nominated Logistics Engineer,
Nicole Wu for the award. Her submission was selected by the CAST
team in recognition of her contribution in delivering tailored
supply chain solutions that optimised cost savings and services and
that resulted in several new business wins for CEVA.
Joint Runner Up: Damco

Fiona Su's entry from Damco Shanghai, China was selected for its
cross continent application using the CAST MIP Optimiser, Centre of
Gravity and Network strategy models resulting in significant
recognised value, distribution network savings and improved service
levels within a complex, high supply chain cost distribution
network.
